GE Profile is trying to rival Samsung for smart fridges

GE Profile has unveiled its Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant at CES 2026, positioning itself directly against Samsung’s long‑established Family Hub line.

The new model aims to transform the fridge into a connected kitchen hub, tackling everyday frustrations like grocery shopping, meal planning, food waste, and more.

At the heart of GE’s pitch is a patented Scan-to-List barcode scanner that’s built into the dispenser. With support for over four million products, households can now scan items running low and automatically add them to a digital grocery list in the SmartHQ app.

Afterwards, that list syncs with Instacart for delivery in as little as 30 minutes, a feature designed to rival Samsung’s Family Hub, which also integrates shopping and meal planning tools.

AI and food waste reduction

How many times have you forgotten that you already have an item in your fridge?

That’s what GE’s FridgeFocus camera system is for. It provides real-time snapshots of crisper drawers, helping users remotely check perishables while shopping.

This AI-powered vision system aims to reduce duplicate purchases and food waste. Sure, Samsung’s Family Hub already offers interior cameras, but GE’s focus on perishables adds a sharper edge to its pitch.

Touchscreen and recipe support

The fridge includes an 8-inch touchscreen display with weather updates and custom backgrounds. It also integrates over 50 curated recipes monthly from partners like Taste of Home, with seamless one-tap ingredient additions to shopping lists.

However, on the other side of the fence, Samsung’s Family Hub already offers recipe platforms and entertainment features.

Pricing and availability

The GE Profile Smart Refrigerator will be available in April 2026 in stainless steel finishes. It’s priced at $4,899.

While Samsung’s Family Hub models have lower starting prices, GE is betting on premium design and patented grocery tech to win over households.
